Journal of Global Surgery (ONE) is a peer-reviewed, community-funded journal transforming how surgical research is published and accessed. Our model operates on minimal costs and relies on global micro-donations—contributors can pay as little as $0.10 (via traditional methods or Bitcoin Cash) to gain immediate early access. Once the article’s funding threshold of $76 is reached, it becomes fully open access for everyone. We eliminate author processing charges, pay peer reviewers a small stipend, and emphasize automation to reduce costs without sacrificing quality. By reimagining publishing economics, JOGS is making surgical research more equitable, sustainable, and accessible worldwide.
