🧬 About KATHIE MEDICAL KATHIE MEDICAL is a French MedTech startup based at the X’UP incubator of École Polytechnique in Paris-Saclay. The company is developing a new generation of drainage devices designed to improve the safety and reliability of life-saving procedures, starting with neurosurgery and extending to biliary and peritoneal applications. Every year, more than one million patients worldwide rely on drainage catheters to evacuate critical fluids — whether cerebrospinal, biliary, or peritoneal. Yet, these devices remain exposed to a high risk of obstruction and infection, leading to serious complications and costly re-interventions. To address this challenge, KATHIE MEDICAL is developing the world’s first smart drainage system, composed of two complementary products: a next-generation catheter, designed to reduce the risk of occlusion, and a flow-monitoring sensor, positioned externally, to provide clinicians with a clear and continuous view of drainage conditions. Driven by a team of experienced engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, KATHIE MEDICAL collaborates with an international network of medical experts across Europe, the United States, Japan, and Brazil to support the development and validation of its solutions.
