• Kenyan By Blood Foundation is running the blood recruitment process by identifying and enrolling a network of stakeholders that have access to large pools of potential blood donors and running on-ground mobilization outreach activities to increase blood donation. We have identified these institutions and organizations; we have engaged them through proactive and deliberate discussions that will establish long-term institutional relationships on behalf of KNBTS to build a pipeline of blood donors in the future. Our aim is to initiate institutions into a more active and dynamic role in blood donor mobilization and make them institutionalize blood donor mobilization into their organizational culture. • The diversity of blood donors requires a multipronged strategy of engaging all stakeholders. Our approach is guided by a donor management strategy, and implemented successfully with client consultation, seeking top management support and effective communication and care for blood donors, before and after donation. • This approach is informed by evidence that shows that if education of the various blood donor stakeholders is combined with care during blood donation and a reduction of inconvenience of blood donation, both organizations and individuals become nurtured into developing a culture of voluntary non-remunerated blood donation.
