CINs offer several benefits to providers. CINs are recognized by Medicare as Advanced Payment Models, so membership removes much of the burden of Medicare’s required quality reporting. CINs offer Care Management and pharmacy services that support practices in caring for their patients. CINs are provider-governed, giving participants greater influence over the policies, protocols and contracts that impact their practices. CINs give providers helpful feedback on how their patients are doing with preventive activities and on how they are doing at coding for appropriate reimbursement. Participants are eligible to receive income over and above their transactional fees through shared savings and quality metric achievement rewards. Additionally, CINs enhance clinical interaction and a sense of community in an increasingly fragmented healthcare environment, and they provide better local care than patients would otherwise get.
