LIAE is a research institute responsible for national marine environment monitoring and involved in maritime spatial planning. Carries out studies on biodiversity, non-indigenous species, functional biological processes in the marine ecosystem, biogeochemistry, oceanography, modelling and ecotoxicology in the Baltic Sea and freshwater ecosystems.
