William C. Makler has been practicing criminal defense in both Federal and State courts for over 17 years. He has 25 years of criminal justice experience, which includes working in various ways for law enforcement early in his career. As an attorney, Mr. Makler has always been committed to the cause of justice as a defender and champion of civil liberties and, in particular, the rights of the accused. He is a former public defender for both Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz Counties. Mr. Makler has successfuly defended persons charged with everything from homicide to speeding tickets. He is a former professor of the law of Evidence at the Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of law and frequently lectures to college students, law students and other members of the legal community. He has lectured to lawyers as well as judges at the Santa Barbara Bench and Bar Conference. When lawyers and police officers are facing criminal charges, many have called on Mr. Makler for assistance. He regularly sues the Department of Motor Vehicles for violating his clients' rights.
