About Let There Be Light International

Let There Be Light International (LTBLI) raises awareness about global Energy Poverty and donates solar lights to at-risk communities in sub-Saharan Africa. LTBLI works with 12 grassroots NGOs in 4 countries to provide pico lights to vulnerable families left out of market-based electrification programs in remote communities. Key programs in Uganda include the basic solar-electrification of prioritized rural health centers (79 Health Clinic II and III in Uganda) and a maternal and infant health project, Safe Births + Healthy Homes (SB+HH), through which we solar-electrify prioritized rural health clinics, conduct community-based education about renewable energy, and provide new mothers in rural off-grid communities with a solar light for use at home after the critical birth event. 6,700 mother/baby pairs have participated in this innovative program, directly impacting the health, safety and economic stability of more than 36,000 people.
