About Life in Vacant Spaces

Life in Vacant Spaces (LiVS) is a placemaking organisation based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, supporting creative, community, and entrepreneurial projects to access and activate underutilised urban spaces. We work at the intersection of urban regeneration and creative innovation - brokering temporary use of vacant buildings, lots, and laneways to host pop-ups, exhibitions, community gardens, artist studios and more. Since 2012, we’ve connected hundreds of artists, makers, collectives, and NFP's with the space they need to test ideas, build community, and transform our city — one activation at a time. Our work creates low-barrier opportunities, increases vibrancy, and supports more resilient, responsive cities.
