About Life Insurance Corp. of India
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is an Indian state-owned life insurance and investment company headquartered in Mumbai, and the largest insurance company in India and its largest institutional investor. Established by an Act of Parliament on 1 September 1956 through the nationalization and merger of over 245 insurance companies, LIC offers a wide range of life, health, pension, and unit-linked insurance plans. As of March 2025, LIC manages assets under management of approximately USD 570 billion and serves hundreds of millions of policyholders.
