About Lights in Alingsås

Each year, since 2000, in October, professional lighting designers are chosen to lead a workshop in lighting design in the city of Alingsås, Sweden. The main aim of the workshop is to have professional lighting designers guiding international lighting design students through the complete lighting design process of an actual full-scale project. The aim is also to create six installations that can be shown during the exhibition phase, called the festival, to the public. Lights in Alingsås has become an important international meeting place for lighting designers, students, and companies. During the festival the town is full of activity and in the last few years Lights in Alingsås have had over 70,000 visitors during October. The owner of Lights in Alingsås is the local energy company, Alingsås Energi.
