About London Women Chess Club

London Women Chess Club (LWCC) is a London-based Community Interest Company dedicated to increasing participation, confidence, and visibility of women and girls in chess. Founded to address the underrepresentation of women in competitive chess, LWCC provides a supportive and structured environment for players of all levels — from beginners discovering the game to rated competitors participating in leagues and tournaments. Our activities include regular chess sessions, rated tournaments, training events, league participation, and collaborative initiatives with libraries, community venues, and national chess organisations. LWCC aims to create a welcoming and respectful space where women can develop their skills, build confidence, and contribute to the wider chess community. Through leadership, community engagement, and inclusive practice, we are committed to strengthening women’s presence in chess across London and beyond.
