About LUMKANI

At Lumkani, we believe that safety and financial security should not be a luxury. Living in informal settlements often means living with the constant threat of disaster - a fire can trap families in intergenerational poverty. We address this challenge through our "detect and protect" model. By installing our networked IoT fire detectors in over 150,000 homes, we provide communities with a collective defense against runaway fires. This technology, combined with our inclusive insurance products offered in partnership with Hollard, allows residents to protect their assets and rebuild their lives after a crisis. From our roots as a Cape Town innovation to a national leader in social impact, Lumkani continues to identify gaps where communities lack access to critical services. Together, we are creating a world where every household is safe, insured, and empowered to prosper.
