Macro-Energy Systems is an emergent field and research community that focuses on large-scale, systems-level, long-term aspects of energy systems and their implications for other systems, including the environment, economy, and human wellbeing. Sustainability and equity concerns, and computational advances have fueled a growing area of study with an increasingly rich set of tools and questions. Until now, this work has been scattered across many research communities. Macro-Energy Systems unites these efforts within a common field to foster better research, collaboration, education, and policy-making.
