The mission of the Main Street District is to enhance the experience and economic vitality of the district by implementing exemplary clean and safe practices, supporting the beautification and activation of our public spaces, and championing quality downtown development - while preserving our culture and spirit. Main Street District is a private non-profit, founded in 2002 to manage the Business Improvement District (BID), bounded by Elmwood, Gervais, Assembly, and Marion Streets in downtown Columbia, SC.
