About Makayiram Retreat

We are Makayiram Retreat, a plantation resort located in the hamlet of Pothamedu in Munnar in the state of Kerala, India. Munnar- a hill station and a paradise for tourists from across the globe is situated at around 1600m (5200 ft) above mean sea level. Makayiram Retreat nestles in a 50 acre private organic cardamom plantation at the foothills of the Chokramudi hill range, which is one of the highest peak in Munnar. Cardamom plants was native to this part of the world and grows amidst tall forest trees which are centuries old with a canopy above more than 40 feet .This environment is very similar to a forest with rare flora and fauna. Makayiram Retreat has a 2.5 Km(1.5 Miles) stone paved track which is being used by our guests for Plantation Walk and Off Road Drive. This is a refreshing experience for the guests, where they could get a peek at the cardamom plantation activities and enjoy the pristine nature with glimpses of rare species of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
