About Makerdao
MakerDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization and the creator of DAI, a crypto-collateralized stablecoin pegged to the US dollar on the Ethereum blockchain. Founded in 2014 by Rune Christensen, the protocol allows users to lock cryptocurrency collateral in smart contracts to generate DAI, which is governed by holders of the MKR governance token. In August 2024, MakerDAO rebranded to Sky as part of an expansion of its decentralized finance ecosystem.
