About Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR)

The MFHR was founded as an act of resistance against the Greek dictatorial regime of 1967-1974, with the primary aim of promoting, researching, strengthening, and ultimately protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, without discrimination. A truly democratic political system and adherence to the rule of law provide the essential framework for citizens’ rights and freedoms to function effectively and reach their full potential. This is particularly crucial during times of crisis for democratic values and institutions, as human rights often become among the first targets of attack. Human rights —whether civil, political, social, economic, or cultural— are universal and should never be limited by borders or discrimination. The MFHR is committed to fostering scientific dialogue and advocating for the recognition and respect of human rights. Furthermore, it works to ensure the effective protection of internationally recognized human rights.
