About Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association

The M.E.B.A. is the nation's oldest and finest maritime labor union, established in 1875. Our large and diverse membership is experienced and skilled in all aspects of the maritime workforce. M.E.B.A. members include licensed engineers and deck officers in Deep Sea, Inland, Great Lakes, tug, barge, cruise, LNG, oil, and military shipping; unlicensed seamen; crane and port engineers; municipal ferry workers; and office industrial workers in addition to other maritime trades workers. This breadth of representation gives our members a choice of where they want to work and enables the M.E.B.A. to help supply maritime companies with their entire labor force.
