About Maryland Therapeutic Riding

MTR works with the natural healing and therapeutic power of horses to improve the quality of life of children, adults and veterans with special needs. Our accredited, high-quality programs open new pathways of healing for children and adults with a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional challenges. In addition, we provide a community of support for parents who often feel isolated when dealing with illness or disability. With the guidance of a certified therapist, and the healing and therapeutic power of horses, MTR riders improve their balance, strength, muscle tone, self-image, and confidence. We serve all ages though Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy (aka Hippotherapy), Adaptive (Therapeutic) Riding and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Equine Learning (unmounted).
