About Medical Musician Initiative

The Medical Musician Initiative (MMI) was established to train professional musicians in pertinent aspects of critical care medicine with the goal of incorporating them into ICU medical teams, thereby enhancing the healing process of critically ill patients using music as medicine. MMI is also dedicated to developing and supporting research to study the best means of using music in critical care medicine and to further understand the mechanisms by which music impacts the brain.
