About meeting.toolchest.org

Remote meetings are a lot easier to get right than many people realise. People use remote meetings because of their convenience, but by taking a different approach remote meetings can actually be more effective and engaging than most physical meetings. The internet provides different opportunities for collaboration, and these tools can be used to better achieve our meeting objectives. We should stop seeing remote meetings as a ‘pale reflection of the real thing’ and start seeing their potential to rectify what has become a source of inefficiency and frustration in many organisations. But not everything has to change at once, and there are many good practices we can take from physical meetings to ensure we get the best out of remote meetings. Adopting some of the practices below will help you to improve immediately and set you on a path to creating meetings which fully reflect your leadership. There are six areas to explore in thinking about making your remote meetings more effective: • Assembly - Having the right people, in the right place, at the right time, ready • Alignment - Agreeing a clear purpose and the practical steps to get there • Activity - Using the potential of the internet to engage full participation • Attention - Facilitating practices which help listening and understanding • Action - Building ownership of outcomes and actions to ensure progress • Assessment - Learning from experience and observation to improve further Meeting Toolchest is a free online resource which has been created to support and promote all of the above - meetings which inspire and empower people to transform their organisations and themselves. It provides ideas, guidance, tools, and resources to support a simple step-by-step path to improvement that is open to everybody who runs and attends meetings.
