About Meridian Scholars

Meridian Scholars is a cross-border youth leadership and education initiative bringing together middle and high school students from across Asia and the United Kingdom to collaborate on real-world global challenges. Designed for students before college, Meridian Scholars supports learners aged 12–16 through structured mentorship, international teamwork, and project-based learning grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants work in diverse, cross-cultural teams to design practical solutions addressing inequality, education, and community development. The programme is co-hosted with partners including the Oxford Diplomatic Society and the Institute for Rural Development (Nepal), providing students with exposure to university-level thinking, diplomatic leadership frameworks, and community-informed development practice. Mentors and advisors include students and professionals affiliated with leading global institutions. A defining feature of Meridian Scholars is its commitment to action beyond discussion. Selected student projects receive programme-backed funding and post-programme mentorship to support real-world implementation in partnership with local communities in Nepal. Through weekly interactive sessions, cultural exchange, and collaborative problem-solving, Meridian Scholars develops global citizenship, cross-cultural communication, ethical leadership, and confidence in young people. Graduates receive programme certification, mentor recommendations (subject to performance), and lifelong membership in the Meridian Scholars international alumni network. Meridian Scholars believes meaningful access to global education and leadership begins early--before college decisions shape a student’s future.
