About Meteor Film GmbH

Meteor Film is our independent film label based in Cologne. Since 2013 we have been releasing feature films and TV series in German-speaking countries – partly in cinemas, almost always on DVD and Blu-ray, of course as video on demand and sometimes on TV. Over the last few years, our lineup has grown to include a wide range of genres and styles. We have classics in our program like Michael Haneke’s FUNNY GAMES or Chuck Russel’s THE BLOB ( (1988). In the novelty section, we have devoted ourselves to romantic comedies and erotic dramas, in addition to science fiction, horror, thrillers, and war and action films. With THE HIVE, you can also find successful animated children’s entertainment in our catalog, a theatrical animated film with the festival favorite AWAY and now also a footprint in the documentary genre with AUSTRIA 2 AUSTRALIA. In addition, we have dedicated ourselves to controversial cinema that aims to shake up the audience or make them think, like the novel adaptation WIJ. Most of our films and TV programs come from the USA and Great Britain, some from German-speaking countries, but also from France, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Thailand, Ukraine, Russia, Belgium and even Latvia. We will continue to keep our eyes open on the international film markets in Berlin, Cannes, Toronto and elsewhere to bring unusual, exciting, entertaining, surprising and worth seeing content from all over the world to the German-speaking world in the coming years.
