About Metro Weather America Inc.

Metro Weather develops and manufactures Doppler LiDAR systems using eye-safe lasers to observe 3D atmospheric winds in real-time. Our high precision in wide-area wind observation leverages our team’s decades of scientific research in remote sensing and proprietary signal analysis technology. In addition to wind profiling, Metro Weather is also developing object detection technologies using Doppler LiDAR. Metro Weather’s flagship LiDAR, Wind Guardian features compact, mobile design while maintaining state-of-the-science wind, cloud and aerosol detection capabilities, providing exceptional performance, versatility and dependability. Metro Weather is a proud partner with the University of Oklahoma’s Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC), for ongoing collaborative research including optimization of data retrieval capabilities leading to capture of more reliable wind estimates, and performance assessments using accumulated spectra. ARRC researchers currently deploy two (2) Metro Weather Wind Guardian LiDAR systems, including a system co-deployed with the ARRC’s RaXPol mobile radar unit. Metro Weather is also a proud partner with TruWeather Solutions to shape the future for low altitude weather precision by providing weather and wind measurements below 2,000ft in support of NASA’s SMART Grant SBIR Project. Metro Weather’s scanning LiDAR data will soon be integrated into TruWeather’s WISE (Weather Intelligence Sensor Ecosystem) Mesh, a scalable, real-time weather intelligence network designed to close critical low-altitude data gaps for eVTOLS and other autonomous systems comprising the burgeoning Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry. Metro Weather has offices in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan and Richardson, Texas.
