About MHD Builds

MHD Builds is a full-service residential design-build firm rooted in Alexandria, VA. We specialize in additions, renovations, and historic preservation, guiding homeowners through every step of the design and construction process, from first conversation to final walkthrough. What sets us apart is the depth of our process. We believe that great construction starts long before a hammer swings. Upfront planning, thoughtful design development, and clear communication are at the core of how we work. Our in-house team stays connected from design through completion, with no gaps in translation. We work exclusively in Alexandria, and that focus is intentional. Alexandria’s homes have character, history, and complexity that reward specialists. Many of the homes we work in are approaching 100 years old, and we love the challenge of honoring their architectural integrity while making them work beautifully for modern life. Historic renovation isn’t just a service we offer, it’s where our heart is! Whether you’re dreaming of a kitchen transformation, a primary suite addition, or a whole-home renovation, we bring the same dedicated, personalized approach to every project. Our clients don’t just get a contractor, they get a team that is invested in their home as much as they are. Named a 2025 & 2026 Northern Virginia Magazine Best Home Expert, MHD Builds is proud to serve the Alexandria community we call home.
