What I hear consistently from healthcare and public health leaders is not having a consistent way to operationalize their strategic plans stands in their way of accomplishing outcome. I hear it in many ways: -We have a strategic plan; we just can’t seem to get it operational. The plan is there, it seems like the people are there, but we aren’t moving forward. -We have a large initiative, but my staff are weary about another change. It didn’t work out so well last time. They don’t trust we’ll do this one well. -We have turnover in key leadership positions. If we could just get those positions steady, we could get our plans moving along. -We have a gap in leadership at the executive level, so our managers don’t have a leader in place to move our strategic plans along. Without the roadmap our managers are doing the best they can. -We have to undertake this initiative, but our structure is shaky. We don’t have a good system to allow us to grow.
