With increasing supply chain complexity and a growing number of global and local crises, both small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies in the automotive industry are facing a heightened risk of severe disruptions in their supply chains, bullwhip effects, and, in the worst case, even temporary production shutdowns — all of which entail significant effort and costs for replanning. In the volatile and highly complex environment of the automotive industry, processes for demand and capacity management along the value chain are still mostly supported by customized, proprietary, and often entirely manual IT solutions. As a result, there is, on the one hand, no shared understanding of these processes among stakeholders. On the other hand, different data formats and programming interfaces are used, which increases the complexity of data exchange and leads to transmission issues, inconsistencies, or even data loss. CatX leverages the Catena-X Data Space to enable standardized, self-determined, interoperable, and collaborative capacity and demand management.
