About Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program

About Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program (MHCW RCP) The Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program (MHCW RCP) is one of Ontario’s 14 Regional Cancer Programs. We work with hospitals, community health organizations, and primary care partners to deliver coordinated cancer services that align with Ontario Health’s standards for quality, equity, and consistency of care. Serving a population of over 2.3 million people — nearly 16% of Ontario’s population — our region spans 4 health systems, 10 hospital sites, a Regional Cancer Centre, and 33 Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) sites. This includes 10 hospital-based screening sites, 23 Independent Health Facilities / community health centres, 9 Breast Assessment Sites, 4 High-Risk OBSP sites, and a Genetics Clinic, ensuring patients have access to comprehensive breast screening and follow-up services. Our region is one of the fastest-growing in Ontario, with a 25% population increase in the past decade. Over 60% of our population identifies as visible minorities, nearly double the provincial average. We address these unique challenges through equity-based, culturally sensitive, and community-led approaches, such as multilingual campaigns, co-designed toolkits, and our Community Ambassador Program. Our mission is clear: to improve access, reduce wait times, and enhance the quality of cancer care so that every person in our community receives timely, patient-centred, and evidence-based care — regardless of where they live or who they are.
