Montclair Emergency Services for Hope, Inc. (MESH) is a non-profit and faith-based organization in the heart of Essex County, New Jersey. MESH was established in 2005 as an ad hoc organization, and has been operating under 501(c)(3) status since 2011; we have a mission to provide shelter and nutritious meals to members of the community that suffers from food and housing insecurity. Essex County, New Jersey represents 22% of New Jersey’s unhoused population, 1,914 unhoused persons. 10.7% of New Jersey’s food-insecure population resides in Essex County, equating to 84,900 hungry individuals. We currently provide dinner meals, Monday through Saturday, to at least 50 regular guests per night, warmly welcoming anyone that may walk through the doors. During MESH Cafe dinner hours, we operate a free-of-charge retail shop for our guests to access clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene items. We offer free laundry services for guests to wash and dry their clothing. During the cold winter months, we provide overnight respite shelter for a projected 120 days.
