About Montessori & Friends Education gGmbH

The teachers in a Montessori institution have confidence in the child's growth process. "The teacher must be passive so that the child can become active," said Maria Montessori. In order to enable each child to develop his or her individual maturation process, there is no need for active guidelines from the teachers, only guidelines for learning goals and encouraging, motivating assessments. The teachers are the contact persons for the child and always design the environment in such an interesting way that the child can act in a meaningful way. They are the link between the child and its material, make a preliminary selection for what is on offer and show the child how to handle it appropriately. They help the child, but do not intervene hastily in his or her actions and keep disturbances of others away from him or her. One of the most important pedagogical tasks is the careful, intensive observation of each individual child. In this way, the Montessori teacher knows the child's current needs and interests as well as his or her stage of development in order to support and encourage the child accordingly. The focus is on the development of intuitive abilities and the supplementation of existing knowledge.
