About Morris Park Singers

The Morris Park Singers had their first rehearsal in the cafeteria of Grace Lutheran Church in January 2022. The choir was originally envisioned as a temporary performance outlet during the Covid-19 pandemic by the Minneapolis theatre company Morris Park Players, however it quickly experienced massive growth and success, more than doubling in size in its first two seasons. It became apparent that there was a specific type of person who the choir was connecting with: someone who had been involved in music earlier in their lives, whether through school, family, or community, and wanted to incorporate a musical outlet back into their life. In an effort to make the group as accessible as possible, they have two “mini-seasons” a year, one in the fall and one in the spring, rehearsing once a week for two hours in an effort to provide manageable time commitment for singers; they also charge no dues to singers. They perform a wide variety of choral music, from Renaissance motets to gospel arrangements and everything in between, and always include some popular and musical theatre repertoire as a nod to their roots in the Morris Park Players.
