About Mpumalanga Provincial Government

The Mpumalanga Provincial Government is the executive authority of Mpumalanga, one of South Africa’s nine provinces, known as “The Place of the Rising Sun.” It operates under the leadership of the Premier and is responsible for implementing national and provincial legislation, coordinating development initiatives, and delivering public services across the province. Headquartered in the Riverside Government Complex in Mbombela, the provincial government comprises the Office of the Premier, the Provincial Legislature, and various departments that oversee key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, public works, social development, and economic growth. These departments work collaboratively to improve the quality of life for residents, promote sustainable development, and ensure efficient governance. Mpumalanga’s government also includes several public entities like the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA), Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, which support economic development, tourism, and regulatory functions within the province. The province actively engages in national and international platforms, hosting events such as investment and mining conferences and participating in global forums like the G20 Tourism Ministers’ meeting. Through these efforts, Mpumalanga aims to attract investment, boost tourism, and foster innovation while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery and community upliftment.
