About Museum for Papirkunst
The Danish Museum for Paper Art, located at the North-Western coast of Jutland in Blokhus, Denmark. The museum opened in 2018. Step into a universe where paper transforms into breathtaking art. The Museum for Paper Art is the only specialised museum in the Nordic region dedicated to paper art, craftsmanship, and design—where paper takes center stage. The art of cutting paper is called psaligraphy—a Greek word meaning "painting with scissors." This expressive form is at the heart of the Museum for Paper Art. Each cut is irreversible, and every piece is a tribute to craftsmanship, patience, and artistic vision. We showcase world-class paper art and feature rotating special exhibitions as well as permanent exhibitions by Bit Vejle (the founder of the museum) and H.C. Andersen. The Museum for Paper Art is dedicated to presenting, preserving, and positioning paper art as a recognized art form, aspiring to inspire the use and expansion of paper as an artistic medium—from the fragile and simple to the complex and technically impressive. We cherish a slow and immersive art form in contrast to a fast-paced and digital world.
