About Near East Area Renewal (NEAR)

Near East Area Renewal (NEAR) develops community as we create great places for neighbors on Indy's Near Eastside. NEAR is a nonprofit community development corporation (CDC) committed to comprehensive community development on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis in coordination with the Near Eastside Quality of Life Plan and our community-based partners, neighbors, and other stakeholders. Since 2011, NEAR has developed more than 120 vacant or abandoned properties into affordable homes primarily in the St. Clair Place neighborhood. NEAR also developed St. Clair Senior Apartments in partnership with Riley Area Development Corporation, as a 33-unit apartment building for aging neighbors. We continue our commitment to develop properties for homeownership, address broad-based community concerns, and cultivate an abundant community across the Near Eastside of Indianapolis.
