About Nederlands Genootschap voor Heraldiek
The Dutch Heraldry Society (NGH) was founded on November 18, 2014. The board is concerned about the erosion and fragmentation of the 'heraldic landscape' in the Netherlands and is trying to stop this and turn it around in a positive way by creating an independent organization sole dedicates to heraldry. The NGH Foundation strives for the following: Promoting the practice of heraldry (the science that deals with the meaning of coats-of-arms and other heraldic practices) as part of the cultural heritage in the Netherlands and beyond. The Society's policy has two main objectives: - increasing knowledge about heraldry as a cultural-historical phenomenon and - the stimulation of 'living' heraldry' in the everyday world. Some activities of the NGH are: - Publishing the heraldic magazine Blazoen; - Issuing letters of arms to clergy, corporations and families; - Maintaining three registers of coats-of arms - Organization of a ‘Heraldic day’ once a year; - Compiling a Guild of Heraldic Artists with high-quality heraldic designers and painters as our partners; - Adopting other (digital) collection in the field of Heraldry.
