About Nederlands Slaap Instituut

Nederlands Slaap Instituut (NSI) is a specialized sleep clinic diagnosing and treating adults, adolescents, and children with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome (RLS), periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD), parasomnias, and circadian rhythm disorders. Founded in 2009, NSI has grown into the largest nationwide sleep clinic in the Netherlands, performing over 13,000 sleep studies annually (2025). We operate without waiting lists, with an average time from referral to treatment of 2-6 weeks, depending on the required diagnostics. Unlike many general hospitals, we believe patients with sleep disorders benefit from a focused and efficient diagnostic pathway that minimizes unnecessary secondary care investigations. All our medical specialists in pulmonology, neurology, ENT, and pediatrics are certified somnologists and have passed the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) examination for Expert in Sleep Medicine. Nationwide Digital Care Model NSI operates nationwide through a fully digital care pathway. Sleep studies are conducted in the patient’s home, and consultations with the medical specialist/somnologist take place via secure video consultation. Our specialists dedicate sufficient time to carefully review results and discuss personalized treatment options. NSI collaborates with multiple University Medical Centers across the Netherlands and maintains referral partnerships with over 3,200 general practitioners.
