About New Orleans Food Policy Action Council
The New Orleans Food Policy Council is the flagship council of the statewide initiative, Louisiana Food Policy Council (LaFPC), and the official advisory body on matters of food and agriculture for the New Orleans City Council. Founded in 2008 and operationalized in 2020, New Orleans FPC convenes non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals to shape public policy to improve equity, opportunity, and collaboration across all aspects of our local food system. Our work includes educational programming, technical assistance for food advocacy, direct lobbying, and grassroots advocacy. We envision a sustainable, culturally appropriate food system that enables all New Orleanians to live healthier, more resilient lives.
