About New Road Baptist Church (Oxford)

We are a group of ordinary people who believe that church is a great place to make friends and experience God together. We are a family who believe that church should not only be great fun but also a place where lives are radically transformed. We are committed to being followers of Jesus Christ, who offers life in all its fullness. We have a broad, inclusive and life-affirming theology. We see God at work in the lives of people both inside and outside the church. Guided by the Holy Spirit we believe that we are called to tell the story of Jesus to those who do not know it. We hope also to discover more about our own faith as we listen to the stories of people from the background of every faith and none. We welcome those who express their gender and sexuality in every way that reflects faithfulness in love. We are committed to pursuing justice in every area of social life, and working for peace as we are able. A remarkable Covenant was signed by this church in 1780, which created a “Protestant Catholic Church of Christ.” The result was a broad (and broad-minded) church two centuries ahead of its time.
