Northampton Teacher Training Partnership (NTTP), which is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ ITE Provider (2024) is based at the Lead School: Northampton School for Boys, an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ school (Mar 2025). We are a long established School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider who has trained over 450 teachers in the last 25 years. We offer a one year full-time Secondary (11-16) teacher training course with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) validated by Birmingham Newman University. Many of the partnership schools have ex-trainees as members of staff, some of whom work as School Based Mentors for us. The vast majority of trainees who successfully achieve both QTS and an academic award, gain employment in local schools, which is a huge strength of the partnership together with an excellent completion and retention rate. Ofsted described NTTP as having ‘an exceptionally strong and trusted reputation’ and trainees say that they ‘thoroughly’ enjoy this ‘phenomenal’ course. Key Strengths are: *Trainees’ professionalism - trainees develop good relationships with staff and pupils encouraging high expectations of the learners. *The pivotal role of administrative support - facilitating excellent communication across the partnership that benefits support for and attainment of the trainees. *Consistently good quality school placements, providing a range of contrasting experiences, carefully matched to the individual needs of the trainees. *The expertise of school-based mentors in coaching the trainee towards improvement *Strong shared ethos of pastoral care facilitating swift and effective intervention and support for trainees. The vision of our SCITT is to provide high quality teachers to meet the needs of our local schools. The partnership is comprised of schools which offer a wide range of different experiences for our trainees. As a result, all our trainees are highly prepared for employment at the end of the training year.
