About Northern Forest Center

From bold ideas to lasting impact, the Northern Forest Center connects community, forest stewardship, and economic development to help rural communities thrive. We bring collaborative leadership, new ideas, program delivery, investment and public policy expertise to renew the pride, purpose and vitality of the region’s communities while advancing a forest stewardship ethic. The Center increasingly focuses its programs in specific geographic areas to create the conditions that attract and retain young people and entrepreneurs. Our programs strengthen communities, enhance destination appeal for visitors and residents, drive regional innovation in key sectors of the forest-based economy, including wood products and Automated Wood Heat, and provide regional leadership. Our integrated approach is rooted in a strong land ethic that benefits both people and place. As an organization: We believe in the New Forest Future. We invest in people and communities to secure regional prosperity and a resilient landscape. We believe in bold, adaptive leadership. We bring new ideas and resources to accelerate innovation across geographic, social and ideological boundaries. We believe in widely shared opportunity. We collaborate to secure community benefits rooted in the interdependence of a vibrant economy, healthy ecosystem and an equitable society. We believe in persistence. We build long-term partnerships and local capacity to sustain community pride, purpose and vitality.
