Nuclear Energy Western Canada (NEWC) is the first private-sector SMR developer in British Columbia, advancing nuclear-enabled clean energy solutions for BC and across Western Canada. NEWC is building a platform to develop, structure, and de-risk projects that support firm clean electricity, industrial decarbonisation, hydrogen production, Indigenous-led economic development, and long-term regional resilience. Our flagship initiative, the Okanagan Demonstration SMR, is designed as a pathfinder project for British Columbia and a replicable model for future deployment across Western Canada. NEWC’s development approach combines early-stage project structuring, siting, regulatory preparation, Indigenous partnership development, and market creation to position SMRs as a practical part of the region’s clean energy future. NEWC’s mission is to deliver clean, reliable, and scalable nuclear-enabled energy solutions that support industrial growth, hydrogen development, Indigenous economic leadership, and long-term decarbonisation. The company is also developing GoNuclear!™, a platform intended to help build a nuclear-ready ecosystem through supply chain activation, workforce development, education, and regional engagement. With strong advisory support, an expanding ecosystem of partners, and a clear multi-phase development strategy, NEWC is working to establish British Columbia as a credible nuclear player and to create a repeatable clean energy platform for the West.
