About NYC Youth Journalism Coalition

New York City is the media capital of the world, but fewer than 1/5 of NYC public high schools offer journalism education. We are committed to changing that. We developed and oversee Journalism for All, a public-private partnership working to bring journalism education to every NYC public high school. Spanning all five boroughs, our pilot cohort is creating pathways for youth underserved in schools and underrepresented in mainstream newsrooms. By increasing access to early, high-quality journalism experiences, Journalism for All will expand students’ career opportunities, grow their representation in newsrooms and media coverage, and strengthen our democracy.
