About One Check Away Inc

No one should be one check away from a health crisis, an eviction, or a dead end. One Check Away, Inc. (OCAI) builds the infrastructure that closes that gap — through mobile health services, housing stabilization, and education access for Florida's most underserved communities. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, OCAI operates three integrated programs designed to meet people where they are — literally and financially. Check Coast is our mobile sexual health clinic, delivering HIV/STI prevention, PrEP and PEP navigation, sexual wellness care, and telehealth services across Sarasota and Manatee counties. Launched in June 2025, Check Coast operates from a fully equipped mobile unit with Athenahealth EHR, Jeenie language integration, and partnerships with Labcorp, CVS, Walgreens, and AB Specialty Pharmacy. Check Haven addresses housing instability through emergency stabilization support, rental assistance navigation, and wraparound referrals. Launching 2026. Check Ahead provides scholarships and workforce development resources to students navigating financial hardship — the program that started it all in 2020. OCAI holds 340B Covered Entity status, a CLIA waiver, and an active MOA with the Florida Department of Health-Sarasota as a CDC PHS 318 subrecipient. We are also a recognized partner of the American Red Cross through a formal Community Assistance Program agreement. Our clinical infrastructure supports dignified, confidential, and culturally responsive care for every person we serve. OCAI is led by a service-connected disabled U.S. Army veteran and supported by a former CDC Public Health Advisor and U.S. Army Combat Medic. We are woman-owned and veteran-led. Healthcare systems, funders, and community partners — we welcome collaboration. Contact CAO Darrick T. Paul for partnership inquiries. To learn more or request services, visit 1checkaway.org.
