About One Text Initiative

Founded in 2003, the One-Text Initiative (OTI) is an independent, multi-party platform that facilitates structured dialogue among Sri Lanka’s political stakeholders at national, provincial, and district levels. Guided by shared values and the Chatham House Rule, OTI creates a trusted space to build common ground across parties and communities. Our work focuses on generating consensual policy options (“one-text” documents) that advance democratic governance, rule of law, human rights, and inclusive, sustainable economic development. We combine expert facilitation with technical inputs, action research, and capacity building to turn complex, often divisive issues into practical, widely owned solutions. Over two decades, OTI has earned the confidence of leaders across the political spectrum by handling information professionally and treating all participants as equals. Our mission is simple: enable credible, respectful, and results-oriented dialogue that strengthens reconciliation, social cohesion, and stability in Sri Lanka.
