About Orrell Rugby Union Football Club (ORUFC)

Founded in 1927, Orrell RUFC is one of Lancashire’s most historic rugby clubs and will celebrate its Centenary in 2027. From humble beginnings and a famously nomadic past, Orrell rose to become one of the most respected names in English club rugby, competing at the highest level of the game and producing players and coaches who have represented Lancashire, England, the British & Irish Lions and international rugby beyond. Today, Orrell RUFC is a forward-looking community club built on the values of participation, community and excellence. With a thriving Mini & Junior section, continued investment in player and coach development, and ambitious long-term plans for a permanent home in partnership with Winstanley Park Cricket Club, the club is focused on building a sustainable future for rugby in the local area. As we approach our second century, Orrell RUFC remains proud of its heritage — and even more excited about what comes next in black and amber.
