About Our Association of Remedy
Our Association of Remedy (OAR) was founded by Bikash Biswas in the year 2012 with the aim of educating children in the very marginalised urban slums' communities in the Majherhat Railway station area in Kolkata. Now OAR is responsible for 2 primary care and learning centres in the area under the MUKTI initiative. Our other area of work is in the G-20 virgin islands in the Sunderbans archipelago, where we work with native tribal families in alternate livelihoods generation and training. We are also working with the Forest Department to encourage, educate and mobilise locals under the Joint Forest Management Commitment (JFMC) to together protect the very vulnerable forest ecosystem.
