About OUR Place (Open United Recovery)

We are a peer led grassroots Recovery Community Organization in the Portage County, Ohio area dedicated to increasing sustained recovery and empowering those impacted by addiction & mental illness through mutual support, connection to resources, community engagement, education, and positive socialization. Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) are independent, non-profit organizations led and governed by representatives of local communities of individuals in recovery. As an RCO, Open United Recovery Place’s (OUR Place) message of empowerment has transformed the landscape of recovery in Portage County. OUR Place is dedicated to helping anyone impacted by addiction and mental illness achieve long term, sustained recovery. OUR Place does this through holistic programming, community outreach, and leadership. Our programs provide a space for mutual support, family support and education of multiple pathways to recovery. In addition to our programs, OUR Place hosts an array of safe drug and alcohol-free social events and activities that promote mental and physical health for individuals and families. Through community outreach, OUR Place works to eliminate many of the barriers that impede success toward achieving long term recovery for the people we serve. Our outreach efforts connect people to resources and provide drop-in support. Through all of our activities, OUR Place facilitates personal development through recovery advocacy, leadership opportunities, and peer mentorship which strengthen individual and community recovery.
