About OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival (originally named The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) premiered in 1998 followed by the Fort Lauderdale edition (formerly called the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) which premiered in 2008 and is the cultural gem of the South Florida LGBTQ+ community. In 2013 both festivals were brought together under one brand: OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival (OUTshine) - underscoring our incredible and dynamic geographical location, South Florida, as well as our LGBTQ+ multicultural community. Our mission is to inspire, entertain, and educate; encouraging a sense of community through international and culturally diverse film, video, and other media that offer historical and contemporary perspectives on the LGBTQ+ experience. OUTshine serves as a platform for numerous premiers and is the largest LGBT cultural arts event in the South. OUTrageous, OUTspoken, and OUTstanding in all we deliver. Equally as important, OUTshine is a wonderful way to bring the LGBTQ+ community together socially, inspiring a sense of community, new friendships and ongoing relationships.
