About Palmetto Carriage Works

Palmetto Carriage Works is the oldest carriage tour company in Charleston! Come tour historic downtown Charleston by mule or horse-drawn carriage with some of the most experienced personnel in the Charleston carriage industry. We have been a family owned and operated company since 1972. Having fine-tuned every aspect of a carriage ride experience, we pride ourselves on providing authentic and historically rich carriage tours of Charleston, SC that your family and friends will remember for years to come! The popularity of the tour has grown out of the Big Red Barn. The quality and longevity of the staff, the remarkable record of animal care, and the thousands of satisfied customers all stand testament to an outstanding product; a product that they stand behind 100%. Though Charleston passed legislation saying guides no longer need to be licensed, we hold our guides to a higher standard. All of our tour guides are Palmetto Guild Certified to ensure your tour is accurate, authentic, and the fun affair you expect from Palmetto Carriage Works.
