Photonics Healthcare commercializes the first measurement of oxygen where it is needed: in the powerhouses of our cells, the mitochondria. Our CE marked COMET is non-invasively measures cellular oxygen. Editors of the leading peer-review journal called the measurement of tissue oxygenation 'a major advance for perioperative medicine’. Detecting hypoxia in the tissue cells early can help doctors prevent organ failure. Measuring oxygen in cells rather than in blood allows doctors to determine the need for and effects of treatments and to assess tissue vitality. This is vital for critically ill patients, most major surgeries, transfusion decisions as well as peripheral and many other interventions.
